Haridrishna, India's number two chess player and top seed in this tournament, won the György Marx Memorial a full point ahead of Zahar Efimenko, the Ukrainian runner up.

In a tournament with a high drawing rate (76%), Harikrishna won three games and lost none, ending up with a 2717 performance. Efimenko on the other hand won only one game against Acs and drew all the rest, ending up with a performance of 2655, 23 points above his nominal FIDE rating.

Third and fourth places were shared by Wang Yue of China and Zoltan Almasi of Hungary, while the two other Hungarians, Ferenc Berkes and Peter Acs completed the bottom of the table.

The György Marx Memorial is a tournament intended to give talented young Hungarian grandmasters an opportunity to gain experience. It commemorates the famous physicist György Marx and took place for the fourth time this year from the 28th of July until the 7th of August in Paks, Hungary. The main patron of the event is József Kováacs, director-general of Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. Paks.
