The purpose of this new blog entry is mainly a try out of the new blog functionality of www.chesscircle.net, but I also add some notes on Legal's Mate.
Legal's Mate can follow different variations, but the main variation (in my opinion) is:
1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 d6 3.Nf3 Bg4 4.Nc3 g6 5.Nxe5! Bxd1??
Black assumes that he can win a Queen, but he is going to lose the game.
6.Bxf7+ Ke7 7.Nd5# 1-0
I like this game, because it shows (1) that you can not rely on a relative pin and that you have to think twice even when (or maybe especially when) you can win a Queen.
More information about this game (and the other variations) can be found in The Pin on the site http://chessteacherlessons.com/
