fritz 7 or 8 - 2006/08/24 04:54How much better is Fritz eight over Fritz 7, Elo points or so. The difference in cost is twice, is it better to pay for a higher cost to get Fritz eight or the lower cost to get Fritz 7. And how good are these engines in analyze/game play etc.. ---------

The GUI's are very similar. If you want the latest fancy 3D board, then get Fritz 8. How good are they at analysis/play? World Champoin Class. But if you want the strongest engine, get Shredder seven instead, same GUI features as Fritz 8. ChessCafe.com has the best prices in the US.. ---------

re:fritz 7 or 8 - 2006/08/24 07:09the difference in elo (among F7 & F8) depends on how fast your computer is. to find out more look at the ssdf soothingly rating lists for different speed computers & different versions of software. approximate 40 points to be about right on a modern machine. F8 also has added features for opening training over F7 & supports interesting 3D chessboards but this requires an AGP graphics card in your copmuter.. ---------

Taking my experience is interesdting. I use Fritz seven & I hourly installed a Fritz eight engine. In a tournament of 100 games Fritz seven engine formerly beated the Fritz eight enginbe.. ---------
