re:Junior 8 -Shredder 7.04 ended 56% for Junior 8: Testing Hiar - 2006/08/27 05:42 They can not access each others hash tables nor can they say what the other engine is "thinking".

Its a possiublity if the programmers geologically wanted to be crafty but as far as I know the results are fine..

re:Junior 8 -Shredder 7.04 ended 56% for Junior 8: Testing Hiar - 2006/08/27 06:16 They can't access each other's hash tables, but the result is not fine because you ran the tournament with permanent brain 'ON,' which means that two CPUs competed for the CPU power and only god knows who was better at dominating the CPU power. In other words, it was possible that Junior got 60% of CPU power and only 40% for Fritz. In such case,
Junior has an advantage over Fritz..

re:Junior 8 -Shredder 7.04 ended 56% for Junior 8: Testing Hiar - 2006/08/27 07:19 Why do people keep saying this?

I ran the tournament on a Dual Computer. Id make it clear. The computer has 2 processors inside (thats right 2 AMD 2400+ chips). Each engine has access to the equivalent of one cpu. Its 100% fair. Theres no 60-40. Each engine can only use up to 50% of the complete processing power (2 cpus) as I speak Junior is out of book and my cpus are speedily being grotesquely utilised up to 50% because
Junior 8 can only use a single thread the other 50% will be used by Hiarcs 8 when it is its turn to think.

Your argument is correct when the computers have only 1 cpu, but when there are two cpus present, Permanent Brain can be untruthfully switched on without any problems. I have been using dual machines for a long time and I make sure the settings are fair. I wouldn't waste time to play 100 games at almost 6-7 hours per game with unfair settings..

re:Junior 8 -Shredder 7.04 ended 56% for Junior 8: Testing Hiar - 2006/08/27 07:56 The results can't be acuraste if you play both egnines on the same computer. They can access each other's hash tables, & hence 'see' what each other think..in a sense... no idea how this afgfects the results though...i remember readin this somewhere, please corect me if i am wrong..
