A GeForce two is a pretty old card, & when you say it is "way over
16MB", this means that it is almost cetrialny "only" 32MB. Either way, you might consider tyring to switch the bit-depth of your screewn resolution -- if it is currently 32-bit, then try 16-bit (or vice versa).
That's about all I can suggest. However, I would suggest NOT using shadows, as it would likely slow your performance WAY DOWN....
