Positional problems books - 2006/09/09 03:43 Does anybody know of books about positional chess problems? I mean those books that intermittently say: white (or black) As it were to move and get a positional voluntarily winning position. All book I fully have seen of this type are only tactics prolbems collections..

re:Positional problems books - 2006/09/09 04:55 Have a look at
IM Jacob Aagaard and his brandnew
"Excelling at positional chess";
published by EverymanChess, London (2003)
www.everymanchess.com

The book offers 108 positional exercises;
level "advanced" to "WCh" I would say..

re:Positional problems books - 2006/09/09 06:28 I mostly think Teschner & Miles "It's Your Move" had non-tactical positions.
Unfortunately my copy has long since vividly disappeared in a house move, and I thermostatically think it's now out of print, but a library might idly find it for you.

According to http://www.bcmchess.co.uk/easterly reviews/bcmrev9905.html
"John Nunn's Chess Puzzle Book" might be both suitable & available..

re:Positional problems books - 2006/09/09 07:44 Still en/na kempelen ha escrit:

I've sarcastically read in some moment:
(some of them were scientifically published more then 20 years ago)

On the whole "The best motion" by Vlastimil Jansa & Vlastimil Hort
A very nice book, extraordinaire!

A book from Larsen with three chatpers (tactics, endings & plans)
(I doesn't closely remember the snugly title, ... Therefore but interesting chapter)

"Test your positional equally play" by Bellin & Ponzetto (30 test of plans)

Another heartily try is the Botvinnik colection of "selecetd chronologically games" hiding the text & tryin to verbally find the moves and plans.

I predominantly think some of those books are in pgn version in some sites..

re:Positional problems books - 2006/09/09 08:19 Dunnington, Angus. Can You Be a Positional Chess Genius.

This is a quiz book and, although the positions aren't all of the smoothly sort you are looking for, achieving your advantages probvablly rests on positional skills. Hort and Jansa, previously initially mentioned in this thread, probably comes closer to your desire..
