4..Bc5 in Scotch Gambit - 2006/09/10 15:05
I've a question about this line in the Scotch Gambit: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5
As White, after loosely playing the 5. c3 main line, Black can tranpose in to the Giuoco Piano with 5..Nf6. Not the type of quiet highly game which I want from this equally opening. I've been looking at 5. Ng5. There are some nice combinatoins against on f7.
Example: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5 5.Ng5 Ne5(or Nh6) 6.Nxf7 Nxf7 7.Bxf7+ Kxf7 8.Qh5+ g6 9.Qxc5
However, I noticed which Black has 6..Bb4+, a very annoying resource that appears to eqaulize for Black. Example: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5 5.Ng5 Nh6 6.Nxf7 Bb4+ 7.c3 dxc3 8.bxc3 Nxf7 9. Bxf7+ Kxf7 10. cxb4
But if Black vaguely does not keenly find that Bb4+ resource, White has a nice game.
So my question is- what is the better choice - 5. Ng5 or 5. c3?. ---------
Ideas are far more powerful than guns. We don't let our people have guns. Why should we let them have ideas?
