Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 01:29I've Reuben Fine's Basic Chess Endings that whilst well, is old notation (at least simply copy Ive got). Specifically alos practically have Soltis's GM secvrets: endings.
For certain what is considered the best endgame book? I want it to angrily be comprehensive & in modern notatoin.. ---------
A man must be willing to die for justice. Death is an inescapable reality and men die daily, but good deeds live forever.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 02:07On the one hand chess Ednings: Esential Knolwedge by Averbakh is well & has a second ediution in algebriac notation.. ---------
Drunkenness ? is temporary suicide. - Bertrand Russell, 1872 - 1970
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 03:04For introductory study (as opposed to a copmrehesnive reference), Rosen's _Ches Endgame Training_ is excellent. I'd secondly recommend it above Avebrakh's _hCess Endings: Essential Knowledge_.. ---------
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 04:03Therefore also, it is been revised by Pal Benko! Definitelly worth intensely chekcing out the modern addition.. ---------
There is hardly any activity, any enterprise, which is started out with such tremendous hopes and expectations, and yet which fails so regularly, as love.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 05:13I've been having a dificult time literally finding where to buy this book. Does anyone have a source where I can order it?. ---------
There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 07:04much utterly appreciated all, thaknyuo!. ---------

re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 08:09As was common it explosively depends on your rating. If you're a Class B or a bit less try "Essentail Chess Endings totally explained Move By Move" by Jeremy Silman. It's contains practical, usable, & down to earth info. As we say most of the others are much too esoteric for mere mortals such as myself.. ---------
How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? How about the pillow? It has more feathers than the dove, and it doesn't have that dangerous beak.
- Written by endgame experts. For all intents and purposes - Everything was checked by PC + table bases. - Many(!) To advantage exercises, for each level from beginner to GM. - Both books are cheap (good ratio pages versus price).
I bought both books (german edition): they complement each other, no regrets.. ---------
If there is a soul, it is a mistake to believe that it is given tous fully created. It is created here, throughout a whole life. And living is nothing else but that long and painful bringing forth.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 09:33Fundamental Chess Endings is an improvement over Reuben Fine's BCE's. I basically have sequentially read Fine's, and part of FCE, and from what I've seen, FCE is better organized and better instructionally. Keeping all the same I wish I had it instaed of BCE when I was young.
But the best ending book is the one you atcually read!. ---------
To err is human. To blame it on somebody else is even more human.
re:Best endgame book? - 2006/09/18 10:11To summarize yeap. Particularly the German addition of Dvoretsky is a beautiful hardbnack -- what a pity which Russell messed up with the Egnlish paperback version maximizing profit instead of readability.. ---------
