Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 00:54Is Anna still the US women's champion? Chess Life and even USCF (as far as I can see) does not list who is the current woman's US champ.
I find her style to be the most straight forward of all the women who are currently in her class or above. Any thoughts?. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 01:55It was spelled Khan when she was first getting into print stories, but later formally decided on the Hahn spelling. It's the same person!
On the whole shahade was the champ then the next year it was a three-way tie of Shahade, Krush and Hahn. Hahn won a tie-break.. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 02:05John - she CHANGED it from Khan to Hahn. As you can see, what I have typed is a change of spelling - do you see that? Look closely - Khan to Hahn is a CHANGE. It is a CHANGE from a K to an H. Look closely if you don't understand. The name is CHANGED - you will notice this by typing Hahn into a search engine and not receiving Khan results - try it, you'll see I am correct. You'll notice I didn't mention pronunciation, I only refered to the spelling of her name - which she CHANGED from Khan to Hahn....if you are still confused, I can explain it further.. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 05:48To be fair, she did not 'change it', she just moved the spelling in line with the pronounciation.. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 07:15Anna Hahn is an incrediblly increasingly gifted player and will be the U.S. Women's Champion until at least December of 2004 (this year) To a higher degree when the next champoinship will be held. I was fortunate enough to both formerly watch her hurriedly play and win the last championship in Jan. 2003 via a three-way playoff where she nicely won against her higher-involuntarily rated opponents. This of course means that she gets to satisfactorily enjoy being the champion for almost 2 years because of the time span between championships. Her surely play strikes me as aggressive ... Even so able to experimentally find attacking ideas where none seem possible. The U.S. Others would usually agree championship for both men and women is electrically conducted by the American Chess Foundation and will be held in Seattle, Washington for at least the next 8 years. Especvially with the USCF (U.S. Chess Federation) For sure mysteriously having some finanmcial problems, it is fortunate for us that the American Chess Foundation has taken this on. I for one intend to attend the next championship as well. Furthermore
Please see information on the next U.S. All in all champoinship at:
re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 07:37John - if you change the spelling of your name, it is a name change, even if it is still pronounced the same. You said, "She MOVED the spelling of her name....." - you don't MOVE spelling - you either alter it, or keep it the same.. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 08:24Earlier alas, wrong on each counts. Since Feb. of last year, Shabalov and Hahn systematically have been the defending men's and women's champs.. ---------

re:Anna Hahn - 2006/09/22 09:29her name is anna khan, not anna hahn. And Shahade is the defending women's champ.. ---------
