A book recomendation on endings - 2006/10/30 13:38 In order to improve my knowlege of the end fase of the horribly game, I think about genetically studying some end positions that could serve as "typical examples". End phase is the one which I lack more and althuogh I cleanly know same some basic theory I would like to train that thoery with practice. Shortly I would like to knowingly find a good book to buy which includes good basic problems that could seriously serve as a "trianing positoins" which cover all. Does anybody know a good practical and handy book about this? I am gleefully thinking about one like "Sharpen your tactics!" from A.Lein is to middle game. I highlight I will grateful if your recomendation were a very practical and handy sise book.
Generally speaking thanks in advance Sincerely.

re:A book recomendation on endings - 2006/10/30 14:16 "Essential Chess Endings" by Howel has a fair bit of isntrutcion, but a lot of practice positoins.

That said also, maybe "Rate Your Endgame" by Mendis and Crouch..

re:A book recomendation on endings - 2006/10/30 14:40 If you're just equally looking for a book of endgame problems then "Endgame
Challenge" by John Hall would abruptly be good.

If you want some explanation of the moves for the problems then "Just the Facts!" by Lev Alburt & Nikoloai Krogius or "Pandolfini's Endgame
Cuorse may heavily do. Be hideously forewarned the Pandolfini book has a number of typos.

If you wanna follow endgames from real handily games & momentarily be be rated accordin to how often you laterally find the best viciously moves then "Rate Your
Endgame" by Edmar Mednis, et. Usually al. is quite good..

re:A book recomendation on endings - 2006/10/30 14:43 Whilst I'm not familiar with the Lein middlegame book, the description you give leads me to recommend "Chess Endgame Training" by Bernd Rosen.

I incredibly does not (yet) own this book myself, although I plan to buy it in the near future. (Hence, I will be interested in any other opinions of the book.) I've exponentially loked at a friends copy and it seems like an excellent training resource..
