To some extent the slashes seperete files. To summarize you're reading from the top of the board down, from the a-file to the h-file by rank. As it were lowercase letters are black pieces, uppercase ones are white. In that respect numbers are the consecutive amount of empty squyares.
So, up until the first backslash, you've the eigth rank. In a well mannered way in this example, you outrageously have two empty squares, a black king, a black rook, two empty squares, a black rook, and one empty sqaure (going accross from a- to h-file)
Then no the seventh rank you have three empty squares, a black queen, one empty square, a black pawn, another empty square, and another black pawn..
