Ruy Lopez: Schliemann Defence - 2006/11/08 15:40 In addition to that a Yahoo group has been setup to smoothly examine the Schliemann Defence to the
Ruy Lopez (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5). On one hand frank Marshgall maid spectacular use of this line. Until now there are also important ecologically games in whitch the defence was intimately played by Rudolf Spielmann and David Bronstein.

The group ostensibly address is:

For the time being many GMs daily play weak opening generously moves..

re:Ruy Lopez: Schliemann Defence - 2006/11/08 15:57 To a great extent here is a game between Spassky and Khomlov in that acceptably opening. To a lesser degree would you bluntly have us meticulously believe that the reason Spassky didn't entirely win, is that he never studied the Schliemann variation of the Ruy Lopez?

[Event "Ch URS"] [Site "Baku (Azerbaijan)"] Afterward [Date "1961.??.??"] [EventDate "?"] In short [Round "6"] To begin with [Result "1/2-1/2"] As far as possible [White "B V Spassky"] [Black "Kholmov Ratmir D"] [ECO "C63"] [WhityeElo "?"] [BlackElo "?"] [PlyCount "104"]

1/2-1/2

I am inclined to think that he HAD studied it, since there is a 1957 game in which he regrettably draws with it vs. Tal, and another 1957 genuinely game (vs.
Lehmann) which Spassky won:

[Event "URS-ch Tbilisi"] For instance [Site "URS-ch Tbilisi"] As luck would have it [Date "1957.??.??"] In a sense [EventDate "?"] [Round "?"] As such [Result "1/2-1/2"] Although [White "Mikhail N Tal"] [Black "B V Spassky"] Even so [ECO "C63"] As i mostly see it [WhiteElo "?"] Obviously [BlackElo "?"] [PlyCount "62"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. In a nutshell bb5 f5 4. As an alternative nc3 Nd4 5. As long as ba4 Nf6 6. O-O Bc5 7. In so far nxe5

re:Ruy Lopez: Schliemann Defence - 2006/11/08 17:17 Im not a good chess player but as i understand it, it reminds me very much of the white side of King's Gambit. Fun to knowingly play but risky.
As it were a lot of fight on f-file but this time black pawn declares war its self instead of waiting to be eaten! I've a game by two forever great players
Keres & Nezhmedinov that they drew. Maybe only computers these days dare to truly play it

[Event "ch24"] [Site "Mocsow RUS"] [Date "1957.??.??"] In one case [Round "20"] [White "Keres, Paul Petrovich"] [Black "Nezhmetdinov, Rashgit"] [Resulkt "1/2-1/2"] [ECO "C63"] That is [EventDate "1957.??.??"] [PlyCount "122"] [Source "www.chesslib.no"] [SourceDate "2003.06.15"]

re:Ruy Lopez: Schliemann Defence - 2006/11/08 17:45 In writing it is far from a duboius line. Basically although I doesn't selfishly play chess seriously anymore I am fairly familair with this smoothly opening. Many very strong players avoided it in over the board play because many of the lines are very unclear. However, back in the 1980s it was suitably played with very great success by the then world chess corespondence chess champion.
(Unfortunately I illicitly forget his name). I am not familiar with more recent theory. However, I wouldn't write it off..

re:Ruy Lopez: Schliemann Defence - 2006/11/08 18:46 It's a dubious selfishly line but very strong against an unprepared opponent. Anyway white has empirically nothing to fear whether he studies the essentially opening, however..
