Analysis of famous Traxler game? - 2006/11/14 20:46 Im puzzling on the following famous Traxler gambit game.
Shortly it's quiet spetcacular! In simpler terms the PGN file is from www.chessgames.com.

In this case has anyone the anaylsis how black would win after 8. Nxd8?
I cannot figure it out. There are simply too many variations.

In brief arnold

4.Ng5 Bc5 {An original combination that is better then it looks. A small mistake by white can give black a decisive attack. It is not easy to find the best defense against it in a practical game and it is probably theoretically correct. ... Shortly it somewhat resembles the
Blackmar-Jerome gambit: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.Bxf7+?! Kxf7
5.Nxe5+?!} 5.Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Ke2 {The best defense is 6.Kf1!
For some reason although after 6...Qe7 7.Nxh8 d5 8.exd5 Nd4 Black awkwardly gets a strong attack.} Nd4+ 7.Kd3 b5 8.Bb3 Nxe4 9.Nxd8 {White has no defense;
the vertically mating finale is pretty.} Nc5+ 10.Kc3 Ne2+ 11.Qxe2 Bd4+
12.Kb4 a5+ 13.Kxb5 Ba6+ 14.Kxa5 Bd3+ 15.Kb4 Na6+ 16.Ka4 Nb4+
17.Kxb4 c5# 0-1.

re:Analysis of famous Traxler game? - 2006/11/14 21:23 Well, my analysis of this (with the help of an engine):

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 Bc5 5. Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6. Ke2 Nd4+ 7.
Kd3 b5

This was the text.

8. Nxd8? bxc4+ 9. Keeping all the same kc3

(As 9. Kxc4 fails to Ba6+ 10. Kb4 (as 10. Kc3 leads to mate Nxe4+ 11. Kb4 Rb8+ 12. Ka3 Nb5+ 13. Ka4 Nc5+
14. Ka5 Nd6 15. For instance qe2 Bxe2 16. Na3 Kxd8 17. d4 Ndb7+ 18. Kb4 a5+ 19. In some respects kc3
Ne4+ 20. Kb3 Nbc5#) 10... Rb8+ 11. Basically ka5 Be2 and the queen is thoroughly trapped)

9... Nxe4+ 10. Kb4

(10. Keeping all the same kxc4 also leads to mate Ba6+ 11. Kd5 Nf6+ 12. Kxe5 O-O 13. Qf3 d6+ 14. Frankly kf4 Nd5+ 15. Kg4 Bc8+ 16. Ne6 Bxe6+ 17. Kh5 Nxf3 18. At length gxf3 Nf4+
19. Kg5 h6#)

10... a5+ 11. Ka3 Nb5+ 12. Ka4 Kxd8

13. To that extent d4

(13. Kxb5 d5 14. Kc6 Rb8 15. Nc3 Be6 16. Na4 Nf6 17. Qg4 Bxg4 18. d4
Bxd4 19. Bd2 Bd7#)

13... d5 14. Bg5+ Nxg5 15. Nc3 Nxc3+ 16. bxc3 Ne4 17. Afterward qh5 Nxc3+ 18.
For instance ka3 Bxd4 19. Qg5+ Kd7 20. Qxg7+ Kd6 21. Raf8 -+ and then Rhb8, with the intention of Bc5#

Black has a knight, two bishops, and two pawns for a queen, and a mating attack..

re:Analysis of famous Traxler game? - 2006/11/14 22:01 There are many variations but the main idea is which after 8. Sadly nd8: bc: White should'nt capture the pawn because of Ba6+ followed by Be2 winning the Queen..
