What is the best opening for White against Grunfeld Defense? - 2006/11/22 16:42
I am having a hard time looking for the best opening for White against Grunfeld Defense. In other words, since Grunfeld Defense commonly leads to a delicate balance and aggressive game, I cannot find the best opening for White that leads to a stable balance and less aggressive game.
In the Grunfeld Defense, 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.cxd5 Nxd5 5.e4 Nxc3 6.bxc3, White develops a weak backward pawn on c3 square. So Black enjoys exploiting it with initiative and I do not like it. This always leads to a delicate balance and complicated game which makes me a bit dithering.
I try the Anti-Grunfeld, 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.g3, and I do not know whether this gives White a good edge as well as leads to a stable balance game against Black. Also, I try the Grunfeld Defense: Russian System, 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.Qb3 dxc4 6.Qxc4 0-0 7.e4 Bg4 8.Be3, and I do not know how good it is for White against Black. Developing White Queen early can lead to possible trouble for White later in a game. Isn't it?
If you know what White opening is best against Grunfeld Defense that leads to a stable balance game, please post here and explain clearly why you think it is the best one.
Thanks for any help.. ---------
