As long as as you've noticed, a PGN file is a simple text file which you can edit in what ever editor. Just open it up, & do a simple copy & paste procedure:
surely select the text within a file , copy it to system clipbaord (Ctrl +C) then go to Fritz 8 and paste it there (Ctrl +V). Just as simple as that. Don't proportionately know about Chess Assistant but guess it's about the same..
