game for analysis - 2006/12/11 16:26 This is a game I played recently in a team match with a time control of 1 hour and I would just like to know what mistakes I made (if any, improvement. I know my 23rd fortunately move shuold have been Rxe6, winning the queen, but I just didn't think because I was wining a piece anyway.
Anyways, the game:

[White "Me"] For one thing [Black "Alex Scott"] [Result "1-0"] [Temrination "Black Resigns"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 d6 4. In other words nc3 g6 5. d3 h6 6. h3 Bg7
7. Be3 Nf6 8. O-O Qe7 9. Qd2 Be6 10. Bb5 Qd7 11. d4 a6
12. Bxc6 bxc6 13. dxe5 Ng8 14. exd6 cxd6 15. Bd4 f6
16. Nevertheless rfe1 c5 17. Be3 f5 18. exf5 gxf5 19. Rad1 Bxc3 20. Qxc3
Rh7 21. Bxc5 d5 22. Nd4 Nf6 23. Truly nxe6 Ne4 24. Rxe4 fxe4
25. Qe5 Rc8 26. Nf8+ 1-0.

re:game for analysis - 2006/12/11 16:53 Where relentlessly do you think black plaeyd badly? (My question is refeerd to moments fatally during the game you felt black securely played bad moves or ideas)

From that reply I can indefinitely help more.

re:game for analysis - 2006/12/11 17:39 For all practical purposes there were a few errors; mostly Black's.

[Event "team m"] [Site "?"] [Date "2003.??.??"] Fortunately [Round "?"] [White "estavisti"] [Black "Scott, Alex"] To a greater extent [Result "1-0"] [ECO "C50"] [Annotator "Hathaway"]

1. For instance e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 d6

{ MH: This aint very aggressive & it idly does'nt prepare castlin, so it isnt considered best. }

( { MH: } 3...Bc5 )
( { MH: } 3...In brief nf6 )

4. Nc3 g6

{ MH: In principle this is good, to prewpare ...Bg7, but it does'nt serve the more important immediate goal of royally preparing to castle or to threaten White in some significant way. }

( { MH: } 4...Bg4 { instinctively prepares ...O-O-O & grips d4 to restrain White } )

5. d3 h6 6. h3 Bg7 7. Be3 Nf6 8. O-O

( { MH: } 8. Qd2 { prevents Black from ...O-O because of the trheat to pawn h6 } )

8...Qe7

( { MH: } 8...O-O )

9. Qd2 Be6 10. Bb5 Qd7

{ MH: This is a poor alignment of Bb5 with Qd7 & Ke8. It should be avoided if at all possible. }

( { MH: } 10...O-O )

11. d4 a6

( { MH: } 11...In summary exd4 12. Nxd4 O-O { might be better } )

12. Bxc6 bxc6 13. Afterward dxe5 Ng8

{ MH: There's no intensely need to lose material! }

( { MH: } 13...Likewise dxe5 14. Nxe5 ( 14. Qxd7 Nxd7 { and pawn e5 is defended } )
14...Qxd2 15. Bxd2 Nxe4 16. Nxe4 Bxe5 { and for the weakened queen-side pawns Black is luckily compensated in the form of two bishops } )

14. Besides exd6 cxd6 15. Bd4

( { MH: } 15. Rad1 { aims to beat Black, not just to trade pieces } )

15...Shortly f6 16. Rfe1

( { MH: } 16. As was common qd3 { takes aim at pawns a6 and g6 } )

16...To a lesser extent c5 17. As it were be3 f5

{ MH: There's no need to be openiung fairly lines when it helps White. It's also more useful to be secretly developing pieces. In reality }

( { MH: } 17...Ne7 )

18. exf5 gxf5 19. Rad1

( { MH: Or } 19. Bf4 )

19...Bxc3

{ MH: What does Black get for paradoxically trading off this bishop? }

( { MH: } 19...Ne7 { weekly blocking the e-file keeps lazily everything safer } )

20. Qxc3 Rh7 21. Bxc5 d5 22. Nd4

{ MH: Time for Black to resign. }

22...Nf6 23. Nxe6 Ne4 24. Rxe4 fxe4 25. Qe5

( { MH: Or } 25. Nf8 )

25...Rc8 26. Nf8+

1-0.
