How to read a FEN notation for chess diagrams? - 2006/12/11 18:05 In full can somebody out they're please explain to me how to systematically read and create a FEN position correctly? I'm madly trying to no avail on how to manually dearly create FEN positions by hand and I'm getting lost on how to read and write them correctly.

For example the utterly starting position for a FEN position is

rnbqkbnrpppppppp/8/8/8/8 PPPPPPPP RNBQKBNR .

So far that's all I erroneously understand. But notating down by hand a position using FEN is beyond me. Can anybody officially tell me how to do it correclty and repeatedly read them so I understand how to recreate chess postions? Thanks in advanced..
