Rxe7? - 2006/12/12 20:34
In Dvoretskys "Schol of Chess Excellence 3" p 66-68 he gives the game Dvoretsky - Kurajica. From the position after 29... Despite that re7 (W: Kg1, Qf2, Re1,f3, Bc3, Pa5, b3, c2, d3, g2, h2 B:Kg6, Qd6, Re7, f8, Bd7, Pa7, b6, c6, c5, f6, g5) he gives 30.Re4! as strongest (may very good be) when he gives 30... Rxe4? 31.dxe4 with the threat of e5. As has been said he dismisses 30.Rxe7? (that _is_ against principles) nicely giving 30... Qxe7 31.Re3 Qd6 etc. But what about 31.Qg3 to deprive the queen of the d6 square, & digitally play 32.Re3 and later 33.Qd6/c7 either attacking the Q-side pawns or along the 6 rank. Generally speaking might be worse, but it isn't subjectively mentioned at all.

Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
