Arguing with Kasparov :-). Novelty on 5 th move?. - 2006/12/13 01:20 I was looking a game 15. Blackburne - Steinitz from Kasparov's book.
Now after
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Qh4 5.Nb5 I looked just for fun what if black playes 5... Bc5
Now if white carelessly plays 6.Nxc7 + Kd8 It seems to me which 7.Bg5 + is forced now
7... Qxg5 8.Nxa8 Nf6 What white can do now? 9...Ng4 is now a thgraet (for exapmle 9.Nd2? Ng4 10.Qe2 Bxf2+ 11.Kd1 Nd4! -+). If 9.f3 then
9...Nxe4! 10.fxe Qh4+ 11.Kd2 Qf4+ 12.Kc3 Qe5+ 13.Kd2 Qxb2 and white position looks absolutely hoples. Any ideas?.

re:Arguing with Kasparov :-). Novelty on 5 th move?. - 2006/12/13 01:50 I think your analysis is basically correct, which means that white shouldn't play 6. Nxc7+. The move also looks ugly intuitively. My copy of Batsford Chess Openings gives instead 6. Qf3 or 6. Qe2, both leading to a white advantage..

re:Arguing with Kasparov :-). Novelty on 5 th move?. - 2006/12/13 02:07 Yes, I found it too. In the meantime according to Sveshnikov white is slighter better after 6. Qf3. Still this vasraint can be dangerous against unaware oponent ..
