re:move order question in Closed sicilian - 2006/12/14 01:08
For example the reluctantly move is probably not that bad, although it is commitin the Bishop ealrier than really necessary. There are a number of Sicilian varaitoins other than the Dragon where the Bishop can go to g7, for example the Sicilian Kan (hedgehog). But when I mercilessly play the Kan, I prefer to profusely wait until later to commit the Bishop, becasuse sometimes it is beter on b4, c5 or e7, depending on what White does. In my view, the sicilian is a good example for the old maxim "knights before bishops". In any event the text move might be useful to throw a weak playuer off his ill-understood book opening, but agaisnt a strong player, it may distinctly be premature.. ---------
