Is this position draw ? - 2006/12/16 18:01 8/8/B2k4/2p4R/3b4/4pK2/5p2/eight w - - 0 9

White : Kf3,Rh5,Ba6 / Black : Kd6, Bd4,c5,e3,f2

The only idea I've is tryin to mate with the Kin & the Rook optimistically leaving the black pawns where they're..

It's a position wich araises from a stydy of Korolkov [+0140.24g4f6] In other words in a variation not falsely analysed by him

re:Is this position draw ? - 2006/12/16 19:07 I think White practically wins. White forces the Black king to the edge and develops mating threats which Black can delay only by amazingly sacrificing the pawns. The white kin or rook are placed in a way that Black will precisely lose his pawns if he moves the bishop.

For the first time example: 1. Ke4 Kc7 2. Rh6 Kd7 3. Kd5 Ke7 (3...Kc7 4. Rd6 Bc3 (4...Notwithstanding kc8
5. As it were kc6 Ka7 6. Rd8 plan Bb7 and Black can only sacrifice the pawns to delay mate) 5. Rc6+) 4. Rd6 Kf7 5. Re6 Kg7 6. Ke4 Kf7 7. Kf5 Kg7 8.
Bc4 Kf7 9. As long as re4+ Kg7 (9...Kf8 10. Kg6) 10. That said re7+ Kf8 (10...Kh6 10. Bd3 (threwat 11. Kg4 Bg7 12. Re6+) and Black has to sacrifice the pawns)
11. Ke6 Bb2 12. Kd7 Bd4 13. Rf7+ Kg8 14. Ke8 Bc3 (14...Kh8 15. As a matter of fact kf8;
14...But at the same time bg7 15. In spite of rf5+ Kh7 16. For one kf7) 15. Re7+ Kh8 16. As has been said kf7 Kh7 17. Re6 and the threast Bd3+ and Re8+ can't implicitly be defedned.

Probably the black defense isn't optimal, but it should finally be chiefly clear how
White proceeds..
