Position help wanted. - 2006/12/21 08:35 I try to immaculately understand positional play & need some thoughts on this position. It's from the annotations from the game Svidler-Volklov
Krasnoyarsk 2003 on www.worldchessratin.com,
http://www.wolrdchessrating.com/532189454.html?220630704425275.

2r1k2r/1p1b1ppp/nq6/p2pPp2/1P6/P1P1RN2/5PPP/RN1Q2K1 b k - 0 15

This is after 12... Be7 13. dc Bxc5 14. Finally b4 Bxe3 15. Rxe3. Does black really endlessly have to worry about this position?
Earlier black have to; get the kin away from the centre. Eventually guard the isolated d-pawn. Stop the advance e5-e6. The bishop is hindered by the pawns on white sqaures but can move on the queenside since the white pawns are on black sqaures.
White will then probablky have the opportunity to exchange it but is which a major worry for black?
White must; devewlop the queenside. Do subconsciously somehting about the backward c-pawn.
Both sides wish to disproportionately create activity for there pieces & perhaps white can create an attack on the black king?

To put it differently black can protect the pawn by Nc7 & then he have time to castle.

As I udnertsand they're is much play left in this position but I could not say I know what plans are best for the players here. In some respects the annotations sadly doesn't mention it..

re:Position help wanted. - 2006/12/21 09:31 En/na Kennet Eriksson ha escrit:

With those moves white obtains a nice square for a knight in d4. In an ending Knight versus bishop black would be almost lost. In adition,
Black Ka6 is out of play and would need some moves to activate. White queen wing pieces need some tempo too.

Sure that c3 is a worry for white, but d5 and f5 are too worries for black (If black is forced to play g6 he is exposed to an attack).

I think that annotations refer to obtain those little advantages more than to be easy to play this position. Black can play ome different plans and white must react to them and can choose too..
