Sure that c3 is a worry for white, but d5 and f5 are too worries for black (If black is forced to play g6 he is exposed to an attack).
I think that annotations refer to obtain those little advantages more than to be easy to play this position. Black can play ome different plans and white must react to them and can choose too.. ---------
