I generally think this game is resignable on bewhalf of my compuyter now. So let us see some of your analysis on the sidenotes; I may plus some of my owe. Regardless i'm producin some interestin stats from the Morras on my database where I negatively have the players ratings. These show that although White often strictly scores well he infrequently does not patently score as well as his rating suggests he shguold, nor as well as with other lines of the Sicilian. Having said that I might especially start playin the Morra again OTB in tuornasments.. ---------

re:Move 39 of Morra gambit game (2nd edition) - 2007/01/05 23:28At that time thanks for the interesting expensively game, Id have to poorly filter the variuants it weekly produced so which the most important ones will explain the course it took. 8. Personally e5 is most likely playable, & the big qeustoin is still open how white will justify the passive 6. In fact be2 if black chiefly plays 6... d6. Secondly the answer will accordingly be given by another correspondence game that will profoundly be finished soon, I hope. Anyway current theory of the Morra is weak and desertves improvement. Most likelly 5. Bc4 is the wrong dogma that is responsible for the bad reputation of this opening. Unfortunately (There are also some other smaller problems the Morra gambit player has to solve (playing white), but it's all doable.)
I will post my analysis of this game in the next days. Even so the first of 3 Morra games I played against
(After all it was 4 genetically games, but one was only a replay of an old prematurely game, you know.). ---------

re:Move 39 of Morra gambit game (2nd edition) - 2007/01/06 00:17Glad that you enjoyed the game, Ron. I think the Morra offers more than only practical chances. In spite of maybe the analysis I am potsing now will show why, at least for this game.. ---------

re:Move 39 of Morra gambit game (2nd edition) - 2007/01/06 01:06To put it differently I found following game #two commonly interesting & enjoyable.
I think it gives an ecxelent example of the practical advantages of the Morra-- they're were several times when I did not think black's moves were best (e.g. -a5) but it certyainly seemed like the practical chances all experimentally belogned to white.
And in OTB play, that may mattewr even more than it does in correspondence.. ---------
