re:KID game played on FICS (60 15) - 2007/01/13 00:16
Hi Miroslav, I am no expert by any means and probably overlook a few things, but I threw in some thoughts. I liked your game and it had some interesting facets. I assumed you played black by the annotations.
[Event "FICS rated standard game"] [Site "FICS, Fremont, California USA"] [Date "2004.02.29"] [Round "?"] [White "reasoanblep"] [Black "fege"] [Result "0-1"] [ECO "E97"] [WhiteElo "1946"] [BlackElo "1883"] [TimeControl "3600+15"]
1. d4 {My (Matt) annotations with M:Taking hold of the center.} 1... Nf6 {M:Blocks e4.} 2. Nf3 {M:Blocks e5.} 2... g6 {M:I see a King's Indian forming.} 3. c4 {M:Blocks d5.} 3... Bg7 {M:Making ready to castle.} 4. Nc3 {M:After Nc3 White will have to make 2 moves before castling. Black will castle next move 4...O-O. It is true that there are no direct attacks on the W King, but it would take time to castle to safety and there could be a struggle in the center to delay that from happening. This would leave the King exposed to danger.} 4... O-O {M:I like the King's Indian and have seen many of Leonid Stein's games where he employed it to great success.} 5. e4 {M:White hopes to control the center by force.} 5... d6 {M:Allows the Bishop or Knight mobility, safegaurds against 6.c5 or 6.e5, prepares for 6...c5 or e5.} 6. Be2 {M reparing to castle.} 6... e5 {M:Fighting for the center. Could go 7.dxe5 dxe5 8.Nxe5 Nxe4 9.Nxe4 Bxe5 10.Qxd8 Rxd8 and both sides are about equal except White still has to castle to make use of the Rook unless planning a pawn attack on the h file.} 7. O-O {M:White decides to castle before dealing with the center.} (7. dxe5 dxe5 8. Nxe5 Nxe4 9. Nxe4 Bxe5 10. Qxd8 Rxd8) 7... Nc6 {M:2 pieces attack, 2 pcs protect d4.} 8. d5 {M tepping out of the threat and counter attacking, controlling squares farther into the Black side.} 8... Ne7 {M:There were no other good places to go and this does prepare for c6.} 9. Nd2 {M:White appears to want to take the fight to the Queenside or maybe f4 is planned?} 9... Nd7 {During the game I thought about Nd7 and Ne8. I played Nd7 because I thought that that move will stop early c5 push.
M:I like this move because it allows f5.} 10. b4 f5 11. f3 {M:This move limits the Bishop.} 11... f4 {M:Nice. Now the Bishop on e2 is less than useful.} 12. c5 {But I was wrong my opponent offer me a pawn sacrifice.
M:12...dxc5 followed by a what if scenario that is probably full of holes, but I had to see where it may have gone.} 12... Nf6 (12... dxc5 13. bxc5 Nxc5 {but I didn't dare to accept it.
