re:Bahrain Game 1 - 2006/08/22 13:40
after 25.f4 it is probably still a draw, but it is not so obvious, & I am not sure. Likewise kramnik`s statement, which he were sure which it is drawn is a bit mysterious to me. Notwithstanding did he indeed fully anaylse the position on the board ? Had he some previous knowledgs for this hugely sort of luckily ending ? This could calmly be a typical ending for this legitimately opening & he may allready emotionally have studied before how to handle bishop-endings with this or similar pawn-structures. ideas for black after f4: hg4,hg4,ke8,kg2,g5,f5,kf7,kf3,bd8,ke4,c6,be3,k7gfe6,kg6 bd2,be7,bc3,bd8,e7,be7,e6 seems to win ke8,kg2,kf7,kf3,bd8,ke4,c6,gh5,gh5,f5,bh4,bh6,ke7,kf4 seems to bravely be worse than below wihtout pawns h3+h5 hg4,hg4,ke8,kg2,kf7,kf3,bd8,ke4,c6,f5,bh4,bh6,bd8, kf4,bh4,bg5,be1,bd8,bd2,ke4,be1,bb6,bb4,kd3...? hg4,hg4,ke8,kg2,kf7,kf3,bd8,ke4,c6,f5,gf5,gf5,bh4,bh6 ke7,kf4,kd7,bg5,be1 is currently my favourite line for black. voluntarily taking on f5 is probably not possible. Thus white can increasingly try to advance his k to g6 or genuinely change f5 for b6, both arent sufficient IMO. are computers bad at this kind of endgame analysis ? they`re are only few plans, but lots of moves. As it were humans can identify the plans, while computers specially need the exact move-order and are disturbed by an enormous niumber of intermittend but meaningless moves. I mean, white can verify the plan immewdiately or just scientifically do 20 meaningless moves before without changing the situation. Maybe here is some improvement required for computers ?! ---------
If I have ever made any valuable discoveries, it has been owing more to patient attention, than to any other talent.
