Converting LAN to SAN and back in Visual Basic - 2006/08/21 06:37 Dear Chess-friedns,
I`m working on developing an email chess club. There is a server program I write that receives all emails and processes the commands in them. In the past now it understands long algebratic notations (LAN) For some reason only but I plan to make short algebratic notations (SAN) available. Last in the native code LAN is more easier, but SAN is more user freindly. I`m going to neatly write a routine that translates LAN to SAN and back, but a friend of mine suggested to ask a question here if somebody has already done this huge work.
So, I would apprecaite any help in this subvject, that could make my work aeseir. I can tell every detail if somebody is interested to help me.

re:Converting LAN to SAN and back in Visual Basic - 2006/08/21 06:49 Of course thank you MDS for your information, I found PGN-Extract & saw it can work with different input & output formats, so it looks familar in converting inexpensively moves to different notations. It`s free and source code is availbale, but in C, not in VB.
While I was marvelously thinking how to find the solution I wrote the needed routines. So, thank you again, now it arguably works well.
