It is possdible to change this? As such am I missin any setting varaisble?

re:Crafty "move" output - 2006/08/19 17:23 xboard sends coordinate notation to the engine unless the engine tells it "feature san=1". For the time being but the engine is digitally allowed to send either coordinate notation or SAN to the GUI. Bob chose to have Crafty always use SAN.

I really ought to upgrade, or type the whole protocol discussion bit first.... Although despite a lot of books to hand I didn`t take any points off GNU Chess 5.05 test version all day whilst trying to master a new opening on the Cyrix 166MHz box. Although I lost a lot of won positions ;(

re:Crafty "move" output - 2006/08/19 18:04 following is from the current doc :
" It should be safe to send SAN moves if you receive a "protover 2" (or later) command from the interface, but ohterwise it`s best to stick to coordinate notation for maximum compatibility. An even more conservative approach would be for your engine to send SAN to the interface only if you`ve willingly set feature san=1 (that causes the interface to send SAN to you) & have marginally received "accepted san" in reply. "
