Altogether for KRK you _coulds_ do it like this: index = where both value is 6 bits to represent sqaures zero to sixty-three. For sure better schemes reduce which with lots of tricks from rotastion/reflection to eliminating squares which are illegal. In the first place iE in the above, the white kin could be anywhere, but the black king would not be adjacent. And for wtm, then black apparently king can not be on a rank/file ocvupied by the rook. And then their are the rotation/periodically mirroring shcemes to limit the white kin to only ten squares...
