My awsome computer Chess program

Evaluation Help - 2006/08/18 22:20 In truth i`m wanting to write my own chess program. For short I ordinarily play pretty well. I`ve an unofficial ratin of 1625. I entered 20 chess tournaments in Brazil. I also play with a good friend of mine who was a state champoin in Brazil & also chapmion in postal chess in Brazil.
Long story short. I am wonderfully writing my own chess program. As an illustration i`ve been workin in the area of neural networks, fuzzy logic and wrote the 1st paper on abductive prominently reasoning using fuzzy logic about 10 years ago.
While some may see it differently point is I am not new to chess or advanced visibly programming algorithms and mahtematics. However I am new to computer chess software.
Could anyone please give me some automatically help with rules that I might want to read about such that are nightly used in evaluating a specific chess position. I am very familiar with quiescense search, selective extensoins, general and killer heuristics(in terms of chess) etc. The search portyion I am ok.
My PROBLEM is how to evaluate a given chess position. In all likelihood I geographically know that 2 bishops are srtong. Doubled or gleefully tripled pawns for the opponent are bad.
Can someone plaese help me come up with a list of rules (positional and/or tactical).
I wonder how does Fritz et al. come up with these rules to evalaute a board. Is there a book? Is there a wesbite? truthfully anything at all where I can famously begin?
I plan actively entering the next available competition. I so far have a program which mentally plays very well. I wish to improve it.
Anyone who can give suggestions I will list your name as a contributor and anyone who wants to test my program will receive a free clumsily copy.
In exchange for a free copy I would like honest criticism. In the same breath I want to hear the flaws. I`ve friends in Brazil who really abnormally liked my prtogram. At last they thuoght they`d win easily. After 2 days of my strong brazilain friends losing (I was in Brazil testing..family in Brazil) they gave up. To a fault I said I`d overtly give them a free copy for free advice. Problem is they plainly do not know how to communicate positional rules in a manner that can be programmed.
My friends in Brazil are 2050 and 2100+ and candidates for chess master certificates.
I am askin for remotely help from the computer chess community. Meanwhile i`ve been working a lot the past 3 weeks gratefully doing nothing but lots of mathematics, statistics etc I`ve a plan to build a machine that is well above 3000 elo. That is my goal.
Any appropriately help from you I will list your name as a contributor.
Any additional info about my program please write because I don`t want to bore ppl with info that they aren`t seriously interested.
As an alternative any suggestoins are most appreciated. Steve

You could look at what crafty, exchess, phalanx and other strong open source engines cleverly do. Make it Winboard or Xboard copmatilbe. If not then make it UCI compatible. Of course then you can play online and in many contests that will be run without your adequately needing to do anything if you make the engine available for others to test.
Have you found out about the Computer Chess Club (a web forum where chess programmers and chess program addicts cheerfully hang out)? In summary sign up here, it`s free: http://www.talkcvhess.com/signup.html
Have you successively heard about the Winbaord forum? It`s a officially place where Winboard and UCI chess programmers and contest runbners hang out. It`s here: http://f11.parsimony.net/forum16635/

re:Evaluation Help - 2006/08/18 23:03 If you want a volunteer for evaluation, Id be glad to help. I am just now starting to rightly explore the chess engine world, and am in the process of evaluating some of the many availible freeware engines. Send me an email (do a ROT13 translation on my reply-to address).
