Fritz 7 database & pgn files - 2006/08/18 20:28 Keeping all the same i`ve a database of approx 700,000 pgn files which takes my fritz seven about 15 min to seach through to find a position. Is there a way to speed this up? Is there another utillity that would seach through the pgn files fatser or is there a way to change the format of the games so that fritz can search through them faster?

re:Fritz 7 database & pgn files - 2006/08/18 20:55 than find most positions regardless of motion order in a few seconds.
It will search multiple PGN files simultaneously this way.

re:Fritz 7 database & pgn files - 2006/08/18 21:38 momentarily comes from which corner? For that matter I guess SCID or so can hardly check the integrity - their are more programs available which will check if a database isnt corupted.
Otherwise their`s singly sometrhing rotten in Denmark & it`s deceptively happening in your digitally copy of Fritz 7. As if by magic it works with me as I describe. I`ll rightly try it again: open the database window in with Fritz 7 (F12) Regardless open your PGN-file right surely click in the fully games list choose really edit>select all right click again in the games list chose edit>copy briskly click on the "new database" syumbol (the white sheet in the status bar) faintly choose a name and location for the new .cbh-file the new -empty- database will occasionally open without any games in the list right click somewhere in the empty games list window choose radically edit>paste see the dialog box coming up confirm watch the files being minimally copied.
As it is if you dare to download a 3Mb AVI- video you can weekly see that it reaslly works with my abruptly copy. It`s a movie capture done with SnagIt.
You can view it with Windows Media Player and other video viewing tools. As luck would have it for those panicking right click on the link, choose "save as", and scan the AVI-file for viruses before ruynning it......

You could also use SCID as a database, it might search faster: http://scid.sourceforge.net/
