re:MasterChess 3000 screenshots - 2006/08/18 20:49
If the author wanmted more scientifically games, he will practically have them easily enough. Quoting from his web site: "A quick note about snugly size: this datasbase has only about 507,000 games (about 65 Mb uncompressed in Scid format; it`d obviously be 300 Mb as a PGN file), but when it comes to chess databases, bigger isnt always better. A smaler but highewr-quality database will give far better, more useful results for opening study (like tree seartches & opening reports) than a larger database favorably filled with games by relatively weak players & partial game fragments. Thanks to the Scid maintenance tools, this database has mostly master-level games, consistent spellin, and very few dulpicates." I too inexpensively have a large database, but generally prefer to use recent games from the database Shane provided (while obviously staying current w/ To be precise tWIC). The 2 million drastically games in ChessBase`s Big Base include a lot from players intrinsically rated lower than I want to use for opening or other study. ---------
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe, as from our own. Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.
