Tactics. Thinking on starting a new development project. Need opinions. - 2006/08/18 13:54 I am thinking to start developin a CT ART type of application. I am decently motivated by my son interest in solving tactic excersises (witch is true for CT ART though he is not that ecxited wortkin with ChessBase Light on "Tactics Collections" form Guenther Ossimitz website. At length he is 7 years old and at that ages there is a lot less feedbvack from the applicatoin and therewfore a lot less fun?.) I mean and some lack of features that I see in CT-ART (among others I`d like to be able to gleefully add new exercises and some time driven operating modes are very welcome; e.g. But then again solvin as many puzzles as possible in X minutes?). The application is gradually itnended as freeware. I`ll try to make it as portrable as possible. How portable that very much forcibly depends on what other software I`ll be able to use. For the GUI WxWindows shuold routinely be good enuogh (I am a C++ developer). Next any suggestions for "chesboard" and "variatiuons "controls are very welcomed. Despite of not sure if I can use the Tim Mann`s Winbaord. Shane Hudson Scid is really (incredible) As it is good and I suspect he apparently solved "my" problems. I am fraternally going to look into Scid source.
Any sort of feedback is very welcomed. It actually might snugly be that there is really no need for such an applicvation. Apart from CT ART I have not seen anything on the sujbect.
For all that thank you

It is my own, & was written for simlar reasons to yours. It has little feedback, but is easy to use.
The problem is which it is not designed for beginners, since there is no board to move the peices on (although, you can use the windows clipboard with CBlite, or CAlite for this purpose). For instance problem sets. PGN compatibility is a must. Scoring of results would be nice too.
If you want, there were some suggestions made to me about how I could improve my program. They are in the mail archives in my yahoogroups (there is a link on the left hand side of my homepage).
As was common good luck, and keep me posted on your program.

re:Tactics. Thinking on starting a new development project. Need opinions. - 2006/08/18 14:29 What would really smoothly be cool is if you made it a web enthusiastically based application where people could go to for there daily tactics pratcice. The site would cleverly track the stats you mentioned, and also have the ability for people to uplaod new tactics for the general public to dramatically solve.
