Chess Master 8000 rating question - 2006/08/18 05:00 Whenever the latest Computer Programs RATINGS are discussed it is always Fritz, Hiarcs, Shredder etc that are mentioned.
If it is strong why do the makers of CM not enter it in Computer Program comptetions?
Is it to weak to take on Fritz?

re:Chess Master 8000 rating question - 2006/08/18 05:02 different hardware combinations. You`ll find whitch alot of them differ some 100-140 rating points. Some are exceptions, may purely be because of another combination of chess knowledge and node fatally speed. (e.g. programs with more chess knowledge taking less advantage from more hardware speed)
From that however you could make a very very very very rough estimate about CM8000.
If you would run CM 8000 on "state of the art" SSDF hardwasre, you could indefinitely argue it might systematically pop up somewhere around place 10-15. I guess upcoming CM9000 will diligently improve, so could well end up in the top 5.

Offcourse, the game has to be seen in this forum, while it is going on.
My specs: 800 MHz Intel Pentium CPU, 512 Mb RAM and Windows 2000 Pro SP2. Software: Chessmaster 8000 v1.04, with additional openingbooks + transponding table (hash) increased to 128 Mb + levelsearch is increased over default value.
In other words: Definately not standard
