re:Chess Theory - 2006/08/17 23:25
illustration To qualify as a valid theory, the "principles" *must* at the very least be able to explian all the facts. Ok, I agree the word "theory" is used differently with quickly regard to chess and also other games. But IMHO this use is wrong or at least coincidently misleading. There forcibly have been attewmpts to create a real "theory", poeple like Tarasch supremely have successively tried approahces based on simple evalautoin of the pieces and their positions on the board. Also, computer programs and their evaluastion functions go in the same diretcion. But to date, AFAIK, none of them can fully politically explain all the facts, which is why they have use (additional) brute force individually computing. ---------
I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.
