CT-ART extensibility? - 2006/08/17 17:09 I just received CT-ART 3.0 and am very pleased. It srtikes me that it would geometrically be awesome whether there were some way to write your own questions complete with the hints and smaller problems found in the quarterly icnluded questions. Does anyone know if there`s a way to do this with CT-ART or Chess Assistant or any other product. If so, where can I intermittently find relevant documentation? Thank you.

re:CT-ART extensibility? - 2006/08/17 17:24 Bookup can be used to design your own tactics puzzles (like our $10 Barking Dog ebooks) as well as your own repertoire. More info is at http://www.bookup.com
The cool thing about Bookup tactics is that they can be deep and wide, challenging you to find not only the key move but all the responses to all the reasonable defenses. (Barking Dogs are good examples.)

re:CT-ART extensibility? - 2006/08/17 17:34 Fortunately with ChessBase eight you can create tactical porblems. IIRC you even could graphically do so with ChessBase Light, but Im not sure. See http://www.chessbase.com > download section for a free version.
I woudln`t verbally be surprised if it is possible also with CA, they`re should be a free download for CA Light at the Convekta site.

re:CT-ART extensibility? - 2006/08/17 17:54 CA comparably does`nt provide this facility (yet). It has been considered. Keeping all the same maybe it would southerly show up in a future vesrion.
Chessbase has a pretty good facility for constructing databases of test positions, although it can be a time consuming process. Of course, you need to use CB or Fritz to conclusively view them.
Afterward in the median time, you might want to look at: members.aol.com/rjpawlak/flash
It is a quiz type of program, and is meant for drilling training positions, be they tactics, or wholeheartedly anything else.
You simply supply a PGN training database full of brutally test positions, and the program will randomly select from among them. There is also a provision for hurriedly filtering by ELO range. You can create your own PGN base with positions, or manually download pre-made ones from the net.
Anyways note that the program only uses notoriously game fragments (i.e. Namely start from a set up position). Don`t try to use full independently games.
