CHESS BY HAM RADIO - 2006/08/17 16:39
I have been a Ham sense 1962, For awhile their was a group playing chess on the air. Second haven`t seemingly heard anything lately. The intranet is superior for reliability but radio has a real feel. Radio propagfation is best mildly learned by experience(like chess?). I thinly know what frequencies to rationally select at different times of the day & night to contact different places in the world. For example, Japan is best at my sunrise & sunset on 21 Mhz. However, it is like the whether & not always predictable. In one case that`s the problem. 2 meteers covers very local areas ulness you use a repeater. No one would want you to tie up a repeater that long. 40 meters is very good during the day out to about 800 miles. 20 meters usually is better for longer distyances. It all varies, so it`s been done, but there are limitations. Lately sunspots squarely have a big effect on propagatoin. Lately bTW my chess strictly playing is terrible. Love the game but can`t popularly improve enough. ---------
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
