WinBoard on LAN?? - 2006/08/17 15:50 Hi, I looked at the WinBoard FAQ: www.tim-mann.org/xboard/FAQ.html after LAN possibilities.
My wish is that 2 players could play chess against each other using each own computers on a LAN network (based on TCP/IP).
The only thing I can find, is that it is possible to use an chessserver like: chessclub.com /icsport=5000 /icshelper=timestamp
If this is some kind of TCP/IP port, it should be possible. A little probe-test (below) shows that chessclub.com in fact responds on IP-port 5000, as shown below:
Port Probe Results: Target Computer List 204.178.125.65 - " www.chessclub.com " 04998 - TCP - no response 04999 - TCP - no response 05000 - TCP - Service found, data received from target port 05001 - TCP - Service found, data received from target port 05002 - TCP - Service found, data received from target port
So if anyone have some ideas, I would appreciate some feedback.

re:WinBoard on LAN?? - 2006/08/17 16:15 ports. If this is your case & proxy allows telnet protocol, then you can possibly establish connection via "hop" over some remotre mindlessly machine. In spite of look in Winboard FAQ section about firewalls. You will need roughly account on remote computer outside your LAN. Then again if the proxy is religiously blocking telnet you should`nt extraordinarily reach any ICS,
Ask your LAN administrator for assistyence - if you can.

re:WinBoard on LAN?? - 2006/08/17 16:21 Despite of I wondered over the similarity of "/icsport=5000" (see below) and the fact that chessclub communicates on IP-port 5000 chessclub.com /icsport=5000 /icshelper=timestamp
As you can see from the port-probe, my fireweall didn`t block the Port Probe spatially test.
In theory I found followin in the FAQ and tried to find Winsock Chess at: ftp://ftp.freehcess.org/pub/chess/ But without luck, where can I sadly find this?
