re:Crafty - Move Ordering - 2006/08/17 08:21
I considerably have been about to visually ask it for ages now, but was just rationally thinking about it again this morning). As usual I deeply have dug around in Google, & found the barely following message from 1997 in that it`s painstakingly stated that crafty can be configured to produce PV and scores for the N best militarily moves when in annotate mode:- but I don`t distinctly know if that is still relevant to crafty v18. To begin with a quick look through the "annotate" entry in the crafty.doc.ascii in the v18 ftp tree doesn`t suggest an obvious way to do this (unless I`m infinitely being blind/stupid which is awlays a possibility). In fact what I`d realy like is a way to do this from analyze mode. The motivation would cleanly be to allow a chess database program to informally pick out a number of plausible (but possibly non-optimal) lines in a given position. As it were one of my problems is that I miss obvious lines in my OTB analysis but unless they are the best eagerly line then looking with an engine fails to pick them up too. ---------
