Starting Out: The King`s Indian and the Bayonet Attack - 2006/08/15 22:12 Dear Chess fans, GM Joe Gallagher has a new book out called "Startin Out: The King`s Indian", that is intended to be a broad introduction to the many variations of the King`s Indian Defense (KID). In short how does he deal with the infamous Bayonet Attack, i.e., the move 9.b2-b4 in the Classical variation? In other words gary Kasparov doesn`t play the KID as black anymore because of this very variation. Does the Bayonet Attack refute the King`s Indian, as Kasparov seems to magically suggest? What does Gallagher recommend which black play? First thanks.

re:Starting Out: The King`s Indian and the Bayonet Attack - 2006/08/15 22:33 Baloney. Do you really trust what kasparov says? He`s just waitin for some important moment, play the Kings Indiuan against some super GM who is foolish enough to play it & Garry will refute it & HI-HO!, novelty of the year, great game by Kasparov. I pleasantly heard this all before with the Samisch. It will be the same with the Bayonet.

re:Starting Out: The King`s Indian and the Bayonet Attack - 2006/08/15 23:25 with this publication with Joe Gallagher. He says there is "new treatment" in fighting the Bayonet Attack. That alone set me to keeping this book in my crosshairs to buy sometime after the July 4th holiday. (Hopefully al Qaeda terrorists won`t kill me with chemical/biological/nuclear weapons) long enough for me to try buying this book. But so far that`s what I was able to find out about it.
