Re:chessmaster 9000 - 2006/08/14 12:19
The decision regarding requiring the CD at all times has not been officially made by Ubi Soft. However, the code from Chessmaster 7000, which uses a "CD Refresh" system, has been restored for CM9000 testing. Basically, this allows you approximately two weeks or two dozen sessions between CD checks. As for resigning, this is also a possibility, but has not been implemented. Even if it WAS implemented, it would likely only save you (or the computer opponent) a few moves anyway. As with most other computer programs, the computer would only resign if it saw that it was in a forced mate of 3-4 moves or less. Crafty does the same thing, IIRC. jm ---------
