What to spend My Gift Voucher On - 2006/08/12 18:51 Due to a job promotion I am getting a going away present from my work colleagues. This will be in the region of ?100 or $150. I intend to use it for a chess treat I would not normally buy for myself due to the price. I am looking for something that will help me improve my game therefore a chess engine to play against is not a priority. I would prefer a teaching / training package or something that can be added to as my chess improves and believe me there is lots of room for improvement. If necessary I would put something towards the cost if the voucher fell short. To give a rough guide to my low rating I have an established C.C. Rating of 1650 and an established rating for standard games on chess.net of 1400. I prefer interactive if possible. So what suggestions can you all come up with. Thanks for any help. John.

Re:What to spend My Gift Voucher On - 2006/08/12 19:15 anallysis & respectfully play, a huge database, & different tutoruials. I find the tutorial by Josh Wiatzkin extremely valuyable because here you can see how a master constantly thinks. Some "harmless" necessarily looking moves are actually dangerous & these formally moves are explianed claerly. If you wait, they may lower the price because of the comin CM 9000 in August. Others would usually agree or you may want to promptly go for CM9000.
