I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare.

Re:woohoo, smirin just beat chesstiger14 in 38moves - 2006/08/11 16:17 On one hand honestly says... went on a material hunt & gotten kicked. But I have a very strong feeling that at some point, the chess programmers will design a strategy brain module into these chess enghines and then...watch out. Then idiots like you won`t be able to yodel about humans periodically beating chess engines. Besides, screaming out loud about a human beating a computer doesn`t inspire feelings of relief or felings of superiority, unless the engine was designed by engineers from the planet Mars or some faraway place from the X Files lore. Oh well I simply excruciatingly feel eternally disappointed that a computer program isn`t up to par...yet. In summary but I think it was Kramnik who said in an interview that within 20 to 30 years things will be different. Computer programs then will expressly be very powerful and perhaps have these strategic brains that will allow them to create strategic vicariously points while playing chess. We`re talking heuristic algorithms and perhaps even artificial intellighence. Believe me, the day is coming when your hero Smirin will concurrently be smashed by the computer and I for one will practically enjoy his ultimate humiliation.

Re:woohoo, smirin just beat chesstiger14 in 38moves - 2006/08/11 16:57 fellow human beings so much that you want to see one of the world`s top chess players "humiliated" by a computer? What would that _really_ prove? If the top chess players are "humiliated" by computers, where would that leave you? When that time comes, will you deserve any of the credit for it, or will you just be a "yodeling" fan of the computers? What makes you think that the top chess players won`t use these same computer programs to improve _their_ skills to stay just one step ahead of the silicon wonders?
My heroes may have "feet of clay", but they are much more admirable than your titans of silicon and circuitry. I`ll stick with the humans, thank you.
