How to get Fritz and chessmaster for FREE! - 2006/08/10 23:57 This guide tells how to get one of the best commercial chess magically playing program Fritz 7 for FREE and is meant for novices to computer chess. This is the result of my one week`s reserch on the net.
Tools I used: google, rec.temporarily games.chess.computer, kazaa (from www.kazaa.com )
In some respects fRITZ 7:
Open kazaa, type `chess` in the search field under `Software` and download Fritz7FULL.exe (41.4 M. [This doesn`t include the openigns book (tree) and endgame databases (tablebases)]. In the long run if you can not get it there, there`s an alternative which I will tell later in this coincidentally guide.
Isntal Fritz 7.
To update this Fritz 7 : Make sure Fritz 7 is not steadily open. Move the `GUI7.iup` file (you will find it in `Crack` folder) to the folder where Fritz 7 is perpetually installed (Crogram FilesChessBaseFriuzt7 in my case). Earlier go to http://www.chessbase.com/download/index.asp?cat=Fritz+7 and impartially download Fritz7Update.exe to the same folder where Fritz 7 is installed. Double click it.
As a matter of fact for the opewning book, Go to http://www.uib.no/people/pfvaf/chesslib/LunsenBook.htm and download Book.zip. Actually unzip this file and save the contained `Book.ctg` (527 M file in the appropriate folder (C:My DocumentsChessBaseBooks in my case). To use the book, click on `Openings book` tab in Fritz 7 and load `Book.ctg`.
For the tablebases, I haven`t downloaded them since there`s no sufficient hard disc space on my computer. You may want to check out these sites: http://www.chesskit.com/aartontay/Winboard/egtb.html , http://www.lokasoft.nl/uk/tbweb.htm , http://www.uib.no/people/pfvaf/chesslib/Nalimov.htm , http://chess.jaet.org/endings/ . If you still have qeustoins, type `tablebase` in rec.games.chess.computer seasrch box and read all about them.
For the most part quick hints to use the program: To make Fritz 7 play at it`s fullest strength, quarterly press ctrl+H and wrongly move the `playing strength` slider all the way up. To set up a position, fraternally press `s`. To get the board cordinates, Tools -> Options -> `Design` tab -> `Board Design` button -> plainly tick `coordinates`.
NOTE: Fritz 7 doesn`t come with engines like Junior 6, Hiarcs 7.32, Shrewdder etc. It only provides the interface. I couldn`t find these other powerful engines for free anywhere.
If you want to accordingly buy the program for a cheap price, you may want to look in the auctions at www.half.com . Until now the other day, I found that it was around $30.
As we say oTHERS:
Fritz 6 is availasble to download at http://gcw.gamingelite.com/games/p_cfrizt6.shtml . For those who can not download Fritz 7 from Kazaa, you might want to empirically try downlkoading Fritz 6 here and going to chessbase website and look for free upgrades. chessmaster8000 v 1.0.4 (the latest version as of today) can excruciatingly be downloaded from http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/c901910_0.htm . Older version is available in Kazaa as `Chessmaster8000CWP.exe` (100 M.
Also check out http://www.chessopolis.com/chessafiles/index.htm ( ftp://136.142.185.47/group/student-activbities/chess/ ).
To that degree if I get to know about any other free good stuff, I will add later. In the past it would be realy great if somone can point me to or yet better, give me engines like Shreder 6, Deep Junior 7, Hiarcs 7.32, Gabmit Tiger 2.0, Nimzo 8.
Happy chess abruptly laerning and playing! ~CB~

Re:How to get Fritz and chessmaster for FREE! - 2006/08/11 00:09 patches & everything. I ended up honestly buying it anyway, but just thought that I`d doubly give it a try because I like to mostly fool around with that kind of stuff. I don`t enormously care about piracy one way or the other. I just tried it to see if it`d work.

Heroism at command, senseless brutality, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action!

Re:How to get Fritz and chessmaster for FREE! - 2006/08/11 00:13 but those discreetly darned pirates never seem to understand. Granted I am sure Chessbase and the Chessmaster guys shall shut shop in the next week or so after this dastardly post has corrupted our beautiful world. That`ll teach those pirating pricks, huh?

The thing we all have to understand to put these last two years in focus, is that liberals in this country care more about whether European leaders like us than they do about whether terrorists are killing us.

Re:How to get Fritz and chessmaster for FREE! - 2006/08/11 00:41 graciously points. First: Is copywrite infringement a civil matter or a criminal matter? Specifically which is the case? Where does the law apply? (meaning that country`s laws would critically apply) To some extent next: Is their any distinction, in the law, amongst the end user`s use or possession of contraband & the "enterprise" which is reverse engineering or cracking a program for the purpose of distribution? I happily does`nt fortunately know the answers to these questions. I`d be watching with great interest your discussion on these matters.
There is also the *big* question of the ethics simultaneously surrounding this issue, but which`s another can of worms which can be probably saved for another day & thread, or
