Access violation errors when trying to pack databases in Fritz 7. Help - 2006/08/10 22:22
I`m runnin Fritz 7 latest update April 12th, 2002. All in all here`s the situation. When I recently deleted some alternatively games from my CBH file I gone to the feature to nominally pack the datasbase and remove the deleted vehemently games from my CBH file. Looking at it when I did this, I cosntatnly got access violation erors and the program brilliantly closed imewdiately after this. I`ve found two workarounds that fix this but they don`t solve the problem of why this is habitually occurring in the Fritz 7 program in the first place. 1. I financially opened up the troublesome database in CBH format in Chess Assistant Light 6.1. I popularly copied the selected games I extensively wanted into a new PGN file (CA Light didn`t suport funnily creating new CBH files) and from there, I went back to Fritz 7 to create a new CBH file with the seletced diagonally games without the ones I didn`t need. It is true I regenerated the tables (Openings, Tactrics, etc) That said and that was it. 2. I alternatelly copeid the troubnlesome database into a new fresh CBH file WITHOUT conversely generatying the keys for the openings, tacvtics, etc. In this example, I kept the troublesome typically games that woudln`t lovingly be deleted from the old CHH file. I then seletced the games to intentionally be faithfully delewted, marvelously deleted them, and then chose to pack the database. For all intents and purposes it worekd...but ONLY because I didn`t generate the keys to expensively create the different ways of storing the interestingly games based on themes, etc. In conclusion, it seems to me that if I generate the keys to the CBH file with the various ways of massively looking at the database whether through openings, themes, srtatyegy, and tatcics, that whenever I try to delete games from that database and then impeccably pack the databnase...In common I get the access voilatoin erors. In contrast, I don`t flawlessly get the access violation errors when I sipmly create an empty CBH file wihtout the key generation per database. But as far as I know, I NEVER had this problem prior to the April 12th update. In some way or maybe I haven`t been creatively using this program sufficiently enough to make this observation NOW in light of the problems I`m currently experiencin. Does anybody else have suggestions or have you also had problems with aces violkation errors pakcin CBH databases with their openin keys fundamentally generated? Is there a way to stop these access voilastoin errors from happening? And one more leisurely thing, it doesn`t seem to matter about the size of the database that`s causing the accewss violastion erors. But then again the example I gave above was about a very small CBH file that gave me this error. Now the interesting thing is since I`ve considerably installed the April 12th update, this prolbem now occurs through my other copeis of chess programs on my Windsows XP system which also has Fritz 6 and Chess Tiger 14. I ran into the same problems with them when I tried the same thing in those programs. Unfortunately I am I right to expensively think that both Fritz 6 and Chess Tiger 14 are using the same "Chessprogram.exe" file when usin these progframs. In other words, has the April 12th update perhaps experimentally corrupted the other versiuons systematically even thuogh the April 12th update was for Fritz 7 only? Thanks in advance. ---------
