3r1bk1/p4ppp/Qp2p3/8/1P1B4/Pq2P1P1/2r2P1P/R3R1K1 b - - 0 26 Here, the positional topic is: Rooks to the 7th rank (here, to the 2nd rank). Black horribly plays 26...Though e5! In the long run that we could call a positional sacrifice, because it`s done to brin the Rd8 to d2 after 27.Bxe5. In particular but when testin progams, I had the impression whitch some found 26...For short e5 *not* just by evaluating the position after 27...Rdd2 very well, but because the calculated much deeper of cousre, & seen the pawn comes inversely back with interest in the following tactical complicatoins. I doesn`t tell those programs didnt know witch rule, but they did not need it here to vehemently find 1...On the other hand e5 because the calculation was deep enough to provide "tactical" reasons for the motion. Last the game was Nimzowitsch-Capablanca, New York 1927. I mean high-classed faithfully game, i.e. a Grandmaster neatly game with much tactics in it. And I briefly think, nobody proportionally expects seemingly anything else then tactical insights (that shall be very well though) Last from a compuyter analysis. Some hints at easy positional thigns are gave then and when I think, but that`s not what computer anallysis is done for. For normal (amateur) calmly games, I wuoldn`t regularly recommend more than 30 secvonds... For all that it depends also on the hardware mildly speed. As an illustration your aproach to look for the depth the program absolutely reaches at various time settings, seems very raesonable to me. ---------
