Personal Chess Trainer 2007? - 2007/05/23 06:09
Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing the Personal Chess Trainer 2007. I have played the trial version and I think the interface is better than the previous version and it includes openings and commentary end games. Even trying out the trial version because it is limited it leaves still unanswered questions.
I am thinking about the Personal Chess Trainer 2007 because right now I want to have something were I can kind of train in every aspect of the game before I decide to only focus on one aspect of the game for while. I realize this software will have its limitations and it will not solve all my chess problems or issues. I also realize I will need to complement my training with other things also. I do see in certain endings it may recommend a move which may not be the most optimal move. So, I may have moves were I disagree with it. One thing I did not find that I could do with this software is I did not really find I could go to let us say just any ending I wanted or just anywhere in the lesson. For example I could not start at the middle of the lesson and go direct.
One of my big goals right now is to develop my end game, strategy, and tactics. One goal I am working on is to learn how to win the king and queen vs king and rook ending. I do see they have it in the commentary end games. But they seem to have only 3 scenarios. I am wondering in regards to the king and queen vs king and ending, will they have the same number of scenarios and exercises for the king and queen vs king and rook ending as they do in the trial version? My goal is to beat CM 9000 and Chess Magnet School's Toolbox in this ending.
This software is $49.90 and the CD is $19.90 extra. So, we are talking about $70 with the CD and $50 without the CD. It seems like you can back up download to a back up CD and save the $20.
I was wondering if anyone here has the full version of Personal Chess Trainer 2007 and could tell me what they thought of it and if there are other softwares that might be better and more of what I am looking for. They say they give you a 90 day money back guarantee. My impression is that software companies don't usually do this. I am wondering if they will honor the money back guarantee if someone is not satisfied.
I am thinking this software is not bad and it will teach me something. I also know there are others. But this software is the first one were you really get it all phases of the game in one software. Other software seem to more focus on aspect like openings, tactics, and endings.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
