That's not entirely true.
Kibitzing (in chess) is observing. Its meaning in fact denotes a negative connotation, and the precise definition of "kibitzer", as provided by Merriam-Webster online, is as follows:
One who looks on and often offers unwanted advice or comment
Kibitzing is therefore to be done with utmost discretion, as nobody likes someone looking over their shoulders as they play.
So if you have a kibitzer in your game, then someone is watching. If kibitzing is an option, then you are determining whether or not kibitzing is allowed.
The only time kibitzing could affect your play is if you either became frustrated with or listened to a kibitzer. (So no, it has no effect on computer players.)
