another site to play chess online - 2008/01/30 11:02it always amuses me when some claimed that a newly opened chess site is always the best one to play on!
Re:another site to play chess online - 2008/01/31 05:02ChessCircle Rules ! Baby.
I wholeheartedly agree with thechesscorner.
With kudos to him , let me stick my big sarcastic nose in on this topic. You see web address' to sites in the forums all the time. Many are non English speaking sites. That do not offer an English version. Not that , that's a problem , unless like me you >READ< in English. Speaking Spanish , French , or some German gets you no where. I know I check each site. Don't get me wrong I'll play anyone. So I check. As for the rest , most are dead-ends or always seem to be "offline/unable" at this time. You know the old oops thing. Some are just plain dangerous phishing or worse sites. That my anti virus firewall software won't even let me access.

It is plain advertising of course. 99% of the time you will never see the poster back again. But I will leave it on and won't delete it because perhaps some members would like to try it out. Who am I to deny them this? Usually, in the end, because of the huge amount of online chess sites, people always come back to where they feel most comfortable. And that place is...............
Re:another site to play chess online - 2008/02/01 05:04Said I would
So I checked out the site.
1st off : Dame you are a most noble Admin. And you are right on saying "perhaps"
So I use google. I typed the site in , and found that 2 of the top 3 listings for the site sends you here to Chesscircle. several of the listings say Chesscircle >>HAS MOVED<< to Peon Ocho.
I did finally find a link thru yahoo.
Once there. It's a Spanish language site that has an English version . Sort of. Guess I can read more Spanish than I thought. My "pop up" Blocker sort of went nuts. But none of my other high dollar "anti" software found any problem with the install.
On the other hand the 17.1 mb install TOOK FOREVER . I use DSL . And did a check while it was downloading , to be sure it wasn't on my end.
Leads me to beleive thier server , the install part anyway is slow.
The register part was straight forward.
So I logged on was 2 other players there.
Not sure how to catch a game there as yet. Or if it's Email or clocks.
Re:another site to play chess online - 2008/02/02 12:59shotgun, you are a sweetheart - coming here reporting on that site thank you very, very much.
I personally do rather not deal with sites that use many pop-ups either since -as you- my browser's pop-up blocker goes crazy and I find it not worth it.
again, thank you Shotgun, and thechesscorner is right, it is always fun reading your posts, you got your own style and I like it
Re:another site to play chess online - 2008/04/19 02:03Ha!
Okay, this is funny.
I found chesscircle by way of a Google search, which was a bit accidental.
You see, I had been playing on Gameknot.com, and their automated system had somehow decided that my account should be suspended. There was no explanation whatsoever.
So my search was really to see if there were others who had similar negative experiences, and I joined this site specifically to post in the forum. I didn't even notice that it was a bona fide correspondence chess site...
Oops.
Well, now that I realize that, I'm off to play some chess.
