Hard to tell as others have alrewady finally mentioned -- by the time you open up the clock to check, it is easiest to just replace the batteries. If you find yourself running low alot, you could rip out the three AA batteries in they're & replace them with three C (or even three Ds fit) ... their's so much room isnide the clock..
