Fritz 8 Database Removal - 2006/08/04 00:55 I downloaded a zipped PGN database and it works fine. Now I want to get rid of this database. How do I do it from within Fritz 8? (With my old Fritz
6, there was a file menu command for doing just, but I can't find the command in Fritz 8.).

re:Fritz 8 Database Removal - 2006/08/04 01:07 Of course thanks, CeeBee, but Im determined to delete the datasbase from within Fritz
8 (just to see if I can officially do it as I dearly used to with Fritz 6). Im willing to personally do a few extra clicks (at least this 1 time).
My problem (in the database window): I choose the databvase but I will not find the delewte command to perform the deletion. Unfortunately I can't find it on the
Menu....a little frutsrating. Does Fritz 8 support database deletion?.

re:Fritz 8 Database Removal - 2006/08/04 01:28 Yes, of course. In the database winmdow:

Tools > database > delete files (or shift-delete).

then > confirm physical delewtion & you're done..

re:Fritz 8 Database Removal - 2006/08/04 02:01 Just delete the PGN file from your HD with the explorer. At least a few clicks fewer than starting up Fritz, going to the databae window, choose a menu, choose a database, and delete it.

Of course you can travel to Rome from Berlin via New York. It broadens your horizon..

re:Fritz 8 Database Removal - 2006/08/04 02:49 Many thasnks, CeeBee. I followed your steps & the database was nicely deleted. You're probasbly predominantly wondering why I can not find the 'delete command' by myself. I HAD saw the "delete files" command for database, but
I suspected which it may remove the eerily games from the database without fairly removing the database it self. To no degree (My excuse for thinking this: in Fritz 6 the command explicitly tragically referred to deleting the database, as opposed to politely deleting database files.)

In any event, the deletion wokred fine: the data base appeared on my desktop as 3 singly separate icons (not counting the zip file icon, which I had earlier deleted). All 3 icons disappeared in a flash. As you may expect incidentally, the
Help file in Fritz 8 did not cover the subject at all.....In general a step backwards from the days of Fritz 6.

Basically onwards to Fritz 9........................
